Water for Elephants is this book about a guys life in the circus. Both his parents died in a car accident and he thought he just needed to get away, so he ran away to the circus.
This book goes back in forth from present day, when the main character, Jacob, is old and in a retirement home, and in the past, where Jacob is part of the circus. Jacobs job in the circus is a animal vet and he also takes care of their new big attraction, the elephant.
Jacob falls in love with one of the workers at the circus. Unfortunately, the women is married to another guy who also works at the circus. This creates a lot of tension between the 2 guys. The book tells the story in a way that you do not know how the characters are going to react to some conflicts.
